Day 1 - Exploring Amsterdam
12km/7mi
Today you meet your guide in Amsterdam at 13:00 (1 PM) for a 3-hour guided group tour through the city center on city bikes. From the seat of your bicycle you’ll see the well-known highlights of the historic town center such as the Rijksmuseum, the Anne Frank house, the Vondelpark and the Red Light District. You also cycle along many charmingly narrow Dutch streets, the hidden treasures of Amsterdam! Transfer to Haarlem (15 minutes by train) and check in to your hotel before or after the guided tour. Haarlem is Amsterdam’s little sister: it has the same beauty but not the crowds of tourists. The city is your home base for discovering Amsterdam’s surroundings.

Day 2– The Zaanse Schans windmills
47km/29mi
The second tour day is all about windmills. You first cycle northward along the River Spaarne. You pass along the green pastures of Noord Holland and through typical Dutch villages some of which still have houses with the traditional green wooden facades. Highlight of the day is the Zaanse Schans museum village, a collection of well-preserved historic wooden windmills, houses and workshops. Some of the eight colorful windmills are open for visitors as well as several workshops which produce cheese and wooden clogs in the traditional way. A well paved bike path leads you along the riverside windmills and away from the crowds. Don’t forget to bring your camera! After a day of cycling you return to Haarlem, the dining capital of the Netherlands so all tastes are catered for.

Day 3 – The coast and National Park
30km/19mi
A totally different landscape today: the sand dunes, the coast and its wildlife! From Haarlem a meandering bike path will lead you west to the beaches of Zandvoort. You cycle north along the famous coastal bike path, with excellent sea views and several beach pavilions on your way; perfect for a coffee or lunch break. On your way back to Haarlem the route leads you through National Park Zuid-Kennemerland. The park is known for it’s diverse landscapes and wildlife such as wild horses, fallow deer and friendly wild bisons. Back in Haarlem you meet our representative in the afternoon at a time of your convenience.

Optional: additional nights
Extend your stay in Haarlem to discover more of Amsterdam or Haarlem. Visit the Van Gogh or Teylers Museum or one of the many smaller museums in both cities. Or take a canal boat cruise through the city canals. We’re happy add one or more extra nights at one of our carefully selected hotels.
