Cycling below sea level? You can in the Netherlands
Cycling below sea level
The Netherlands have been fighting water for hundreds of years. Now there is a good understanding between the Netherlands and the ocean.
The Dutch started with wooden windmills to reclaim land back in the days. Other new technology made it possible to even create a whole new province of 2412.3km2 (931 square mile) called Flevoland.
Dikes, Delta Works, canals and windmills all play a role in how the Netherlands is able to live below sea level.
